Yes. Jiu-Jitsu is highly recommended for kids that have never trained before, are introverted or may have a lack of social skills. Our jiu-jitsu program respects the individuality of each child, they are able to progress at their own pace. A lot of kids have had their lives changed through jiu-jitsu, helping them become physically stronger and more mentally secure.
Yes, absolutely. Children are taught conflict resolution first. In a situation where they are forced to defend themselves they are taught how to take down and control even larger opponents without hurting them.
Definitely, our program is based on respect, discipline, commitment and fun. It is very common to see kids with behavioral problems become a complete different child, more calm, respectful and patient.
Everyone starts jiu-jitsu as a white belt. To be promoted, each belt has 4 stripes to be filled, when those stripes are filled you become eligible to be promoted. The stripes are achieved through frequency and technical improvements.
Students will need a mouthpiece, jiu jitsu shorts, rashguard, jiu jitsu gi aka kimono and a white jiu jitsu belt. All of those items are available in a package for purchase to get started at Ricardo Demente Abreu BJJ.
